In the News: FLCCA’s American Sign Language Program!

Stories & Spotlights

We’re excited to share that Florida Cyber Charter Academy (FLCCA) and our American Sign Language (ASL) program were recently featured by two local news outlets – 352Today and the Ocala Gazette!

These stories highlight how our ASL courses are opening doors for students while showcasing the passion and dedication of our teachers.

One Student’s Story: Scarlett’s Dream

Scarlett Phillips, an 11th grader at FLCCA, recently spoke with 352Today, explaining how learning ASL sparked her dream of becoming a prosecutor and starting a multilingual law firm to advocate for underrepresented communities, including the deaf community.

“Florida Cyber Charter Academy student Scarlett Phillips plans to advocate for the deaf community through a legal career sparked by a meaningful moment of connection.” – 352Today

A Teacher’s Perspective – and Influence

The Ocala Gazette highlighted the heart of the program by featuring ASL teacher Mr. Nasso. The article explained how FLCCA students can take ASL I, II, and III virtually to earn their language credit or simply explore a new passion.

These stories are a reminder of what makes the school unique – giving students opportunities to pursue their interests and passions, all in a flexible online environment.
